Comic Review of Trinity issue #1 by Percy; It doesn't seem so holy from where I'm standing!
Shit! Pardon my French, but holy shit!
I am literally shook. I just want to take a moment to say that the amount of background and history they managed to pack into one issue is just bloody amazing. When I saw the front page and there were so many people involved in the making of just one issue of one comic I was like “Why?” and then I read it and it was just an “ohhhhhhh” type of moment.
I’m going to give you a quote from one of the preliminary (yes I know that’s a long word, I hate them too) pages. “Our father, who art in Hades, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come…”
Raises a lot of questions that, hopefully, will be answered in later issues.
Also, how they just narrate the history of Snake Island, and how it’s the nation’s seat of power and not Eagle Rock; it’s just good storytelling.
I think I’m going off topic here so let me try and get back on track. The story starts with somebody stealing something very powerful (read the comic to find out what it is) from the heavily-guarded snake island, and getting away nearly undetected.
Then it cuts off to this very young, very relatable woman called Kadara. Apparently, she was supposed to be “destined for greatness”, but hadn’t seen any of that greatness yet. I guess we’ve all been there. She went on to tell us about her job as a personal assistant, and ask who it epped. Again, really relatable.
There was also a talk between the president and a man in light blue agbada. “Fill pot holes and do owambe to distract the people from all the problems of the nation” type stuff.
And finally, like all good stories should, it ended with a bit of magic and an execution.
All I can say is, read Trinity. Even if you’re a lazy reader like I am, just power through it. I promise that by the time you’re at the last page, you’ll be tempted to build a time machine and go into the future to read issue two.
At this point, I’ll shut up and let you get to the comic. Hasta la vista.
Percy.
